Look up any Mac serial.

Get the model and likely year for any Mac serial. Useful for spot-checking a listing before you commit. Lookup ≠ proof: for case-swap protection, ask the seller for a Macfax report.

Serials are 11–12 alphanumeric characters. Try .

Receiving a Macfax report?

Always check for the real report URL.

A real Macfax report lives at macfax.com/r/<id>. Open it in your browser, check that the address bar says macfax.com. Screenshots, PDFs, and pasted images are not verification, they're forgeable in 30 seconds. The report URL isn't.

Lookup can tell you
  • Whether a serial format is valid Apple
  • What model the serial refers to (Mac Studio, MacBook Pro, etc.)
  • Approximate manufacturing year
  • A one-click jump to Apple's official Coverage Check for warranty status
Lookup cannot tell you
  • That the device you're being shown actually has this serial
  • Whether a logic-board swap has happened (catches case-swap fraud)
  • Whether the device has been opened or repaired off-record
  • SSD wear, battery health, or any hardware-health metric
  • Cosmetic condition or prior liquid damage

A lookup is a clue. A report is proof.

Buying? Ask the seller for a free Macfax report and verify the Mac before you pay. Selling? Issue one in under a minute: hardware-bound, signed, impossible to fake from a screenshot.
