Check a MacBook Air serial.

Enter a MacBook Air serial and Macfax returns the exact model and year, including the randomized serials Apple has used since 2021 that character decoders can't read. The table below maps every Apple Silicon MacBook Air identifier if you have a Model ID instead.

Serials are 10–12 characters: 10 on 2021+ Macs, 11–12 on older ones. , or read how Mac serial numbers work. Have a listing link instead of a serial? Run a listing check.

On the machine

Find the serial on a MacBook Air.

  • On the chassis: engraved on the underside of the bottom case, in the small print near the regulatory text.
  • On any Mac that boots: Apple menu → About This Mac shows the serial.
  • Off the machine: the original box carries it on the barcode label, and it appears on the Apple invoice.
  • Buying one? Ask for a photo of About This Mac and one of the underside, and check the two serials match.

Buying or selling a MacBook Air?

A serial names the model. A Macfax report proves the Mac in front of you is really that machine, in the condition claimed, hardware-signed and verifiable online.
