Bulk lookup · Macs, iPads and iPhones

Look up a whole list of serials.

Paste serial numbers or drop an inventory export. Every Mac, iPad and iPhone comes back with its model and year, ready to download as a CSV for a spreadsheet or an asset tool. Up to 5,000 serials a run.

1Your list

Only serial numbers are read, here in your browser. Asset tags, names and locations in a file never leave this page.

Or drop a .csv or .txt file here, or .

2Your key

A run needs an API key. A free key takes one click, with no account and no email. A free key answers up to 200 serials a day, up to 25 of them 2021 or newer serials Macfax has not seen before. Above that, credits: one per serial answered, and asking again within 24 hours is free.

3Run

Running lists from a script instead? The same key works with the API, one GET per serial. See running a batch.

Pricing

A free key covers the first 200 a day.

Credits are prepaid, do not expire, and belong to the key, so the same key works here and from a script.

Before you paste a list

What does the CSV contain?

One row per serial: the serial, its status, the device type, the model and year, Mac model identifiers, a market range for Macs where one exists, a link to a verified report when one is on file, and how often Macfax has seen the serial looked up.

What happens to my file?

It is read in your browser. Only the serial numbers are sent, one lookup each. Asset tags, names, locations and every other column stay on the page.

Do iPads and iPhones work?

Yes. iPad and iPhone serials come back with their model and device type. Market ranges and Macfax reports cover Macs.

What is charged?

A free key answers up to 200 serials a day, up to 25 of them 2021 or newer serials Macfax has not seen before. Above that, credits: one per serial answered, and asking again within 24 hours is free. Serials that come back unidentified or to try again are never charged.
